Silver Nanoparticles Offer Hope in Fight Against Coronavirus
The coronavirus infects dozens of new people every day. Scientists and researchers are working hard to understand this particular virus and find ways to stop it. Silver nanoparticles are effective against a variety of viruses and may be able to help us in our fight against the coronavirus.
How does a virus work?
All viruses, including the coronavirus, depend on their host for the protein that they need to survive and multiply. In order to get this necessary protein, the virus binds to a cell in the host and then invades the cell’s cytoplasm where it begins synthesizing protein.
Once the virus has synthesized enough protein, its genome replicates and new infective virions are formed. These new virions leave the original host cell and bind with other host cells to begin the process of synthesizing protein and replicating themselves all over again.
How can silver nanoparticles stop a virus?
Silver nanoparticles are smaller than 100 nanometers. These extremely tiny particles of silver have a high quantity of surface atoms that allows them to bond with a variety of cells.
When silver nanoparticles bond with cells inside of our body, they confuse the virus and keep it from recognizing our cells as a potential host. This interference prevents many viruses from bonding with host cells and as a result, the virus is neutralized.
Are silver nanoparticles effective against the coronavirus?
Silver nanoparticles have been tested and proven effective against the HIV virus, the Hepatitis B virus and several strains of Herpes viruses. There are also studies proving that metal nanoparticles are effective against various strains of influenza.
Scientists have not done a specific study on the effect of silver nanoparticles against the coronavirus. General research indicates, though, that silver nanoparticles are a promising weapon that can give us hope in the battle against the coronavirus. Below is a table showing what viruses it has been impactful for and how it interrupted the virus.
Are silver nanoparticles and colloidal silver the same thing?
No. Colloidal silver is made from tiny flakes of silver. Although these flakes are very small, they are still too large to form bonds with cells. Silver must be in nanoparticles that are smaller than 100 billionths of a meter in order to be able to bond with cells and prevent viruses from invading them.
Where can I find silver nanoparticles?
Silvercillin is an excellent product composed of silver nanoparticles and purified water. The silver nanoparticles in Silvercillin are 100% pure and non-toxic. Silvercillin is effective against a wide range of organisms and does a great job supporting the immune system. We have used it very successfully in our practice for over a decade.
We keep Silvercillin in stock at our store. If you would like to purchase some or if you have any further questions, feel free to come by and see us.
